Glasgow Lindyhoppers

Glasgow Lindyhoppers teach every Monday evening. Updates to class schedule are posted on social media.

The original swing dance, Lindyhop is the most popular style of swing dancing. As our name suggests, this is the style we most identify with, so much so we teach Lindyhop every Monday night.

Lindyhop originated in the African-American communities of Harlem during the late 1920s and has been danced across the world ever since. Lindy Hop is a fusion of many dances that preceded it or were popular
during its development but is mainly based on jazz, tap, breakaway, and Charleston.

Glasgow Balboa

Glasgow Balboa teach in blocks on a Tuesday evening. Information on Balboa blocks are posted on Facebook.

Balboa originated in the 1920s and was named after the place it all began, the Balboa Peninsula in California. Balboa is danced in a close embrace position with a full body connection. Balboa gained popularity in the 1930s when the rise of swing dancing led to overcrowded dance floors. The style uses tighter steps and is danced to fast upbeat music.

Check out our Glasgow Balboa Facebook page for more details and updates on when our next Balboa block is set to start.
